While the Society was originally founded for women age 50 or better, it is also open to younger women.
Members are encouraged to come to Red Hat events in full red hatter regalia, including hats, outrageous frills, feathers, bangles, boas and beads.Members age 50+ wear red hats with purple accents, while younger members wear pink and lavender.
